A heartwarming visit to El Niños del Hospital General in Panama City, Panama with Shriners Ladies this week to visit children on the burn and orthopedics units and to thank their caregivers for their tireless efforts. Panamanian children with complex orthopedic issues and severe burns are referred to Shriners Children’s for care for the past 40 years. Shriners Children’s signed an agreement this week to now provide surgeries in Panama, allowing Childrens and families to receive life-changing treatment closer to home.

We gathered from across the US to celebrate Martin “Tino” Kamarck this weekend in Brewster, MA (Cape Cod) where Tino spent nearly every summer for 75 years. Seventy (70) friends and family traveled and joined his wife Cassy Kamarck (my sister) to honor Tino’s legacy at a tented event at the Brewster Conservation Trust’s Hay House, regaling us with many stories about his life, career, volunteerism and legacy of love and friendship. To honor his dedication to BCT and conservation, friends also joined “Tino’s Workday” at the Eddy Sisters Property to “pull invasives” (his nemesis weeds) on Sunday July 19th and to celebrate the upcoming dedication of the “Tino Kamarck Outdoor Classroom” near the Brewster community garden. A big thank you to Amy at BCT and dear friend Dennis McClellan for organizing this special time together. Because Tino wanted a party instead of a funeral, Cassy also organized fun dinners on Friday night at Ocean Edge Terrace restaurant and another dinner and sunset beach walk on Sunday night at their home on Cobbs Pond and Brewster beach. Can’t imagine a more laid back (bare-feet included) perfect celebration for Tino. He would have loved it as much as we did. Thanks to everyone who honored him. An honor to once again spend time with UAE’s Department of Health - Abu Dhabi’s Life Sciences Leadership team led by HE Dr Noura Al Ghaithi, Director General, along with Dr Shahrukh Hashmi, Dr Habiba Al Safar, Dr Basema Saddik (Khalifa University), Dr Mohamed Bitar, Rami Adnan, Emily Hill (mubadala) Business Council President Danny Sebright and US Consulate representative Vandana Nair. With old friends from US Academic Medical Centers at Penn (Mick Merritt and Moulay Alaoui Larbi) and CHOP (Ruth Frey). The U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council hosted a reception on Monday, June 22, 2026, at the U.S. Grant Hotel in San Diego in honor of a senior life sciences delegation led by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi. The delegation is visiting San Diego from June 22-25 to attend BIO 2026. I treasure my 17 year relationship with the US UAE Business Council and the DOH-AD. Such a fun and delicious birthday dinner for me with my love (hubby David Gillig) at Michelin-recognized “Juniper and Ivy” restaurant in San Diego last night. So good to relax and enjoy downtime with my guy. Great conversation, fun atmosphere and absolutely scrumptious food. Love this place and my sweet husband.
