July 30 is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. It is a reminder that human trafficking happens here in Iowa, in our communities and along our highways, and that awareness alone is not enough.

The Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate's office created the Iowa Businesses Against Trafficking (IBAT) program because Iowans can be part of the solution. IBAT connects businesses across the state with the training and tools to recognize trafficking and respond to it.

For survivors seeking safety, the office also administers the Safe at Home program, which helps victims of violent crimes protect their address and maintain their privacy.

Growth and prosperity in Iowa start with a strong, competitive business climate—one that supports job creation, expands tax revenues, and sustains vital public services.

We urge policymakers to prioritize fiscal responsibility by controlling government spending and avoiding unnecessary tax increases on hardworking Iowans. ⚖️🏛️
