Established in 1973, Zaca Mesa is a family-owned and operated winery with a long-standing history in Santa Barbara County. As the first vineyard to plant Syrah in the area in 1978, Zaca Mesa has since helped pioneer the Santa Barbara Rhône movement through an unwavering dedication to Syrah and Rhône varietals. Combining traditional old-world winemaking practices with innovative farming and vineyar

d techniques, Zaca Mesa continues its legacy as a producer of high-quality California Rhône-style wines that are true reflections of the vineyard and appellation. Continuing Zaca Mesa’s legacy today is Winemaker Kristin Bryden, who was promoted to Winemaker in 2016, along with Craig Ebersole as Assistant Winemaker. Driven by passion and integrity, Bryden takes a hands-on, artisanal approach to crafting quality wines that reflect Zaca Mesa’s unique site. We invite you to enjoy a tasting or glass of wine in our courtyard or on the terrace to experience the true beauty of our estate overlooking our vineyards and the San Rafael Mountains.

This was one of those nights you wish you could bottle up.

Seeing the vineyard fill up for Reggae in the Vines was one of those moments we’ll remember for a while.

The music started in the afternoon and carried us all the way through sunset. By the end of the night, it felt less like an event and more like a bunch of people enjoying a really great evening together.

A big thank you to everyone who helped bring the night to life. And to everyone who came out to Zaca Mesa, thank you for being part of it. ❤️

We’d happily do this one all over again.

If you’ve ever kept a wine bottle because the label was too good to throw away, this one’s for you.

The Artist Series is here!

Zaca Mesa is starting a new chapter where great wine meets original art. It’s an ongoing collection of limited wines wrapped in artist-designed labels inspired by California.

First up is the South Bay Reserve, featuring photography by Bo Bridges. For over 20 years, Bo has photographed coastlines, cultures, and defining moments around the world. That includes a 12-year run with ESPN X Games and Hollywood campaigns. His fine art hangs in galleries in Manhattan Beach, Maui, and Vail.

Meet the debut wine: Summer Crush.

A chilled Grenache made for beach sunsets and golden hour. It’s a blend of Rosé of Grenache, amphora-aged Grenache, and Mourvèdre. Bright and red-fruited with more depth than your everyday rosé. Soft and juicy with enough weight for the red wine loyalists. Best with a slight chill.

Here’s the catch: only 120 cases were made. 2023 vintage from Santa Ynez Valley. Once and never again. Pour freely while it lasts.

Summer’s not over yet. Link in bio to grab Summer Crush before it’s gone.

There’s something about a long weekend that makes you want to slow down a little.

Stay outside a little longer. Open the bottle you’ve been saving. Sit around the table with people you love and forget what time it is.

Labor Day weekend always feels like that to us. It’s one of those weekends that sits right between summer and fall. The afternoons are still warm, the vineyard is full of life, and harvest is beginning to take over around here.

And while our team may be heading into one of the busiest times of the year, we still believe there’s always time for a good glass of wine and good company.

So wherever the long weekend takes you, we hope there’s something delicious in your glass and no reason to rush.

And if it happens to bring you down Foxen Canyon Road, even better. 🍷

Happy Labor Day weekend from all of us at Zaca Mesa. We’re open Labor Day from 11am-4pm. Walk-ins welcome.

Somebody’s California. Before California became a moodboard, Ole was living it.

Ole moved from Japan to Southern California in the ’70s as a high school sophomore, and the photos he saved tell the rest of the story.

Camping and cooking over the grill at Kern River. Ski days in Big Bear with his daughter. His prized Datsun Z, cruising up and down PCH in the ’90s. A letterman jacket. Summers at Disneyland with the kids…

It’s old-school California in the best way - a life built from the mountains to the coast, with miles and memories in between.

Ole is a member of the Zaca Mesa wine club, and this is a little piece of his California.

As a California winery rooted in Santa Barbara wine country, these are the stories we love getting to know: the people, places and memories that shaped a California lifestyle long before anyone thought to call it one.

We’ll be sharing more from our wine club member archives - the cars, the coast, the mountains, the people, and the photos that somehow hold onto an entire era of California nostalgia.

What does your California look like?
