Collectors, we need your help identifying another incredibly unique piece of original comic art!

We recently acquired this original black-and-white Filipino comic art page, and there are some fascinating clues on the artwork. The page is written in Tagalog and prominently features Professor Imperial, D**g, Falcon, and a robot storyline. It is marked “IKA-61 LABAS,” indicating the 61st installment.

Even more interesting, the back of the original artwork is handwritten “NESTOR REDONDO.”

We believe this may be an original piece of early Filipino comic art by legendary artist Nestor Redondo, but we want to make absolutely certain we identify the exact series, publication, characters, and approximate date correctly.

We recently acquired what appears to be original pre-publication production artwork created for CRACKED magazine, and we’re hoping some vintage magazine and advertising collectors can help us solve the mystery.

The original production board is handwritten:

“CRACKED INSIDE FRONT COVER #2 ART”

The artwork is a hand-painted parody/adaptation of a vintage BAN deodorant advertisement, complete with the classical statue and Ban product imagery. We were able to locate the actual period Ban advertisements that appear to have inspired the piece, which makes this discovery even more fascinating.

But then we noticed something that really caught our attention…

The original Ban advertising says:

“IT ROLLS ON.”

But on THIS original artwork, it says:

“IT ROCKS ON.”

That appears to be an intentional parody alteration taking the recognizable Ban advertising campaign and transforming it into a classic Cracked-style gag.

The original board also contains blue-pencil corrections, white-out, handwritten production notes, layout markings, percentage measurements, and other evidence of the publishing process.

Now we’re trying to solve the big questions:

Who was the artist?
What issue of CRACKED was this created for?
Was this artwork actually published?
And what exactly was the production history behind it?

We would absolutely love to hear from anyone who recognizes this artwork, the artist, the Cracked production process, or the issue it may have appeared in.

This is exactly the kind of obscure publishing history we love uncovering and we need the collecting community’s help to piece the story together.

We recently took in a large collection of original comic art, and we could really use the comic community’s help identifying this piece.

The reverse appears to have handwritten notations referencing Rich Buckler and Joe Rubinstein, along with additional production markings. We believe this may be connected to Marvel, but so far we have been unable to positively identify the character.

Here’s where it gets really interesting: is it possible we’re looking at an unpublished Marvel superhero or villain concept that never actually made it into print?

The full-body character design certainly has the appearance of a model sheet or concept piece, so we don’t want to rule anything out.

If anyone recognizes this character, remembers seeing the design in a Marvel publication, or has knowledge of unpublished work by Buckler and Rubinstein, we would LOVE to hear from you.

This one has us completely stumped. Any information, leads, or educated guesses from fellow collectors and original-art historians would be greatly appreciated!
