Lead batteries continue to demonstrate one of the strongest examples of resource efficiency in U.S. manufacturing.

Battery Council International’s new U.S. Recycling Rate Study reports that lead batteries are recycled at a rate of nearly 98%, making them America’s most recycled consumer product. The study also notes that the long-term recycling rate remains above 99%.

That performance reflects a closed-loop system built through decades of investment in collection, recycling, manufacturing and responsible material recovery. For EnerSys, this reinforces the importance of keeping critical battery materials in productive use, while supporting domestic manufacturing and strengthening supply chain resilience.

Critical infrastructure is often most visible when service is disrupted.

A communications network needs to stay connected. A data center needs to remain online. A warehouse needs to keep goods moving. Defense and aerospace applications need to perform when reliability is essential.

EnerSys supports these environments through three focused lines of business:

- Network & Infrastructure Solutions -
Powering the connected world with trusted reserve and critical infrastructure solutions.

- Industrial Mobility Solutions -
Powering industrial vehicles and equipment that keep essential goods and industries moving around the world.

- Precision Power Solutions -
Powering advanced, reliable, high-performance solutions for defense, aerospace and specialized applications.

Across these markets, customers rely on stored energy systems that support uptime, operational confidence, reliability and resilience.

Battery technology belongs in the infrastructure conversation because dependable power is essential to how critical industries operate every day.

As data centers support higher-density infrastructure and AI-driven workloads, power systems need to perform predictably under real-world conditions.

EnerSys has introduced the DataSafe Noir™ lithium-based energy storage system, engineered to help operators manage power behavior under high-variability load conditions. Designed as an integrated system, DataSafe Noir™ energy systems support controlled performance, compact deployment, and greater operational confidence in demanding data center environments.

Compared to publicly available specifications for leading lithium systems, DataSafe Noir™ energy systems deliver more than 2x output power and over 1.7x greater energy and capacity, helping operators improve utilization of data center floor space.

“The industry has spent years optimizing batteries — increasing energy density and reducing footprint,” said John Gagge, Vice President of Business Development, Energy Systems at EnerSys. “But the real issue is how the system behaves under stress, particularly in high-density environments. The DataSafe Noir™ system is designed to give operators control over that — not just improve performance on paper.”

Backed by EnerSys’ global installation, commissioning, and service network, DataSafe Noir™ systems expand our data center portfolio with an advanced lithium-based option for critical power applications.
