The Business Oasis We empower small business owners to thrive by supporting them to be financially free!

We are a virtual provider of premium, best practice bookkeeping services to small businesses. I get to do what I love each day, and have a business that allows me to spend time doing the things I love, with the people I love, including clients, my amazing team, and gorgeous family. At the end of 2020, it became clear that our previous business name, Oasis Bookkeeping Services, was ready for a cha

nge. Throughout 2020, we were able to support our clients in more ways than just data entry and compliance. We were able to provide that safe haven, that Oasis, to them, and their business, from this, The Business Oasis, was created. We love this change, and it feels so good to be more aligned with our core values of being heart-driven, deliver mind-blowing service, show strength of character in all that we do, and not to beat around the bush.

There comes a point where the way you started the business can’t be the way you keep holding it.

In the beginning, it makes sense to be across everything. You’re building trust, learning the rhythm, proving the idea works.

But eventually, the business needs a different version of you.

Not the employee version who carries every task.

The CEO version who can step back, make clearer decisions and build something that doesn’t depend on her doing absolutely everything.

That shift isn’t always comfortable.

But it’s where the business gets room to grow.

There’s a point in business where trust starts to feel so normal that you almost stop noticing it.

People come back. They mention your name. They ask what you think. They trust you to take care of the thing they used to feel unsure about.

And because it happens slowly, and just becomes part of the week.
But it deserves to be noticed!

There was a time when you were trying to be found, trying to be understood, trying to show people they could trust you.

Now there are people who already do.
No fireworks.

Just the business becoming familiar in the best possible way.

So before you only look at what needs improving, let this part count too.

Your work has become a safe bet for someone.
And that’s a beautiful thing.

There’s a point where you can’t think your way into feeling calm about the business.
You need information.

That little background hum of are we okay, is there enough, am I missing something doesn’t usually go away because you work harder.

It goes away when the numbers are clear enough to stop guessing.
That’s the real relief of good bookkeeping.

Not just neat files or reconciled accounts.
A quieter brain.
A clearer next move.
And fewer moments where the business feels more mysterious than it needs to.

This is the kind of feedback that means a lot.

Not just that the books are done.
That things feel easier to run day to day.
That obligations are handled on time.
That someone has an eye on what’s coming, not just what’s already happened.

For us, good bookkeeping has always been about more than tidy numbers.
It’s about giving business owners one less thing to carry.

A little Father’s Day note for the dads building businesses, holding families together, doing school drop-offs between calls, answering emails after bedtime and trying to make the whole thing work.

And a special shout out to the dads backing women while they do the same!

The ones who take the kids so she can take the meeting.
The ones who believe in the business before it looks impressive from the outside.
The ones who know support is not “helping out”. It’s partnership.

Business does not grow in a vacuum.

It grows around families, homes, late nights, shared calendars, tired conversations, quiet encouragement and people who keep showing up for each other.

So this weekend, we’re celebrating the dads building something of their own, and the dads helping make space for someone else’s big thing too.

Happy Father’s Day.

A lot of business owners pay the bills, pay the software, pay the supplier, pay the tax, pay the team, cover the little surprise expense that came out of nowhere…

Then look at whatever is left and call that profit.

Or worse, call that their pay!

No wonder the business feels confusing.

Your pay is not the leftover bit.

It is part of the cost that should be factored into running a real, sustainable business.

If the numbers only work when you underpay yourself, then we need to help you pave a clear path forward (far beyond “hopefully there’s enough at the end!")

First day of spring, so let’s talk about grass. Lush green grass, specifically.

It’s very easy to look at another business and think theirs must be easier.

Cleaner offers.
Better margins.
Calmer clients.
More breathing room.

Maybe.

Or maybe they’ve just been watering those parts for longer.

Take inspiration from spring and help your business bloom in the right direction by giving a little more attention to the parts you actually want to grow.

Money in the account is not the same as money available to spend.

That’s where so many business owners get caught.

Everything flows into one account, bills get paid, expenses come out, and it can feel like the business is doing fine… until BAS, PAYG or another commitment lands and suddenly it’s a shock.

But it was always coming.

The goal isn’t to be scared of your numbers.

It’s to know what’s already spoken for, so you can make decisions with a bit more strategy and a lot less panic.

There’s a weird little guilt that can show up when the business is going okay.

You think, who am I to complain?

There are clients.
There’s work.
There are invoices going out.

This is what I wanted, isn’t it?

Maybe it was.
Maybe it still is!

That doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to notice the parts that are starting to pinch.

Wanting to revisit things doesn’t make you ungrateful.

You're allowed to keep building the business, not just keep proving you’re thankful for it!

You’re thoughtful about the client experience.

The timing. The detail. The communication. The little things that make people feel looked after.

Lovely.

Just make sure your standards include you too!

A good business should be good for the person running it.
