Midweek Check-in

How much of your week will be spent looking busy versus actually delivering results?

Task lists, meetings, “check-ins,” and office appearances can all feel productive, but are they really moving the needle? Or are they performance theater?

Here’s the challenge: What outcomes do YOU own this week that will truly make a difference?

Forget the noise. Forget the optics. Focus on results. That’s where your value and freedom lives.

Is the resistance to building organizational cultures of trust, autonomy, and accountability really about people?

Or is it about the obligations leaders carry with real estate investments and long-term leases?

When office space becomes the silent driver of culture, organizations end up prioritizing square footage over results.

Culture isn’t found in buildings. It’s revealed in how people deliver outcomes.

The question isn’t how much space you own. The question is how much trust you’re willing to give.

Most organizations tend to confuse technical change with adaptive change.

A technical change is straightforward: update a policy, implement new software, revise a process. The solution is often known, and the path is clear.

An adaptive change is different. It isn’t about tweaking tools, it’s about shifting mindsets, values, and behaviors. It’s about people wrestling with new ways of thinking, letting go of old habits, and building trust where control once lived.

That’s why so many “transformations” stall. Leaders apply technical fixes to adaptive challenges. They roll out another policy, add another layer of oversight, or invest in the latest tool, while the real work (and the real discomfort) of cultural change goes untouched.

Adaptive change is slower. It requires patience, persistence, and a willingness to face resistance head-on. But it’s also the only path to genuine transformation.

When you stop trying to manage people’s time and instead help them manage for results, you’re making an adaptive shift. And that’s where the future of work truly begins.
