Stony Brook concentrates on producing top quality wines that reflect the unique micro climate of this southern-most corner of Franschhoek. The owners, Nigel and Joy McNaught, founded Stony Brook to satisfy their love of quality wines. This boutique wine farm produces many different wines in relatively small quantities in an environ

mentally-friendly manner to minimize their carbon footprint. Wine tastings are offered on the farm in the newly-built tasting room adjacent to the cellar. For more information on tasting wine at Stony Brook, click here. Stony Brook's flagship wine, 'Ghost Gum'; a single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon has spent 32 months in new French Oak. This highly-rated wine is named after the one hundred and fifty-year-old Ghost Gum tree that sheds its bark in the summer and is visible from the farm's tasting area.

The palate is vibrant and composed, showing concentrated flavours of lemon curd, ripe pear and stone fruit, all carried by fresh, well-balanced acidity. The oak contributes structure and savoury depth without overshadowing the fruit, leading to a long, precise, and gently saline finish.

Stony Brook is open 🍷

Despite the recent floods and damage to Green Valley Road, Stony Brook is open and welcoming visitors.

Access is still possible via a very short detour onto our neighbour’s farm around the damaged section of the road and back onto the Green Valley Road.

Our “Wein, Worscht und Wow” wine night together with in Mainz was a fantastic success! Full of great wines, delicious typical Rheinhessen food, great conversations and an amazing atmosphere from start to finish.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, raised a glass and made the night so special.
