Merlot deserves more than being known as the grape that brings softness to a blend.
South Africa produces Merlots with depth, colour, structure and beautifully balanced tannins, with many showing the ability to age gracefully. National Merlot Day was created by Merlot SA in 2023 to shine a spotlight on these w**es, celebrate the diversity of South African terroir and give local producers the recognition their Merlots deserve.
Now it’s time for w**e lovers and producers across the country to get involved.
