Rove Winery at the Gallagher Estate

Rove Winery at the Gallagher Estate Rove Winery at the Gallagher Estate is a boutique winery located on the highest point of Leelanau. The little-known fact?
(1404)

"Every glass holds a story"

Little did they know, the adventure that Creighton and McKenzie Gallagher embarked upon—crafting a vineyard from their third generation, northern Michigan cherry farm—echoed the intrepid spirits of their Irish ancestors and uncovered a heritage long forgotten. Over three hundred years ago, thousands of Irish fled their native land and spread across the world in what h

as become widely known as the Flight of the Wild Geese. Many of the Wild Geese went on to become winemakers, establishing what are now some of the most renowned wineries in France, Australia, and the United States. Today, the few who know this piece of history refer to these forgotten Irish craftsman and their ancestors as the “WineGeese.”

The Gallaghers named their winery Rove Winery at the Gallagher Estate, paying homage to the unsung heroes who paved the way for winemakers today, to the generations of immigrants that tilled and shaped our lands, and to all those who dare to dream or sail uncharted seas. With this adventurous spirit in mind, the Gallaghers established not just the region’s highest standards in winemaking, but also its highest vineyard. Perched at an elevation of over 1100 feet, Rove Winery offers a perspective of the Leelanau countryside that’s rarely been appreciated, with stunning views previously hidden from even long-time locals. The year’s stormy weather, the type of grapes on the vine, the leathery hands of the workers that picked each one—these are the things that make up the story of every vintage. Just as every family has its story to tell, so does every glass of wine.

A tote, six bottles, and one long weekend. That's the whole plan.

Labor Day Sale | Thursday, September 3 through Monday, September 7

Fill a tote with any six bottles and save 15%. Mix it however you like. Six Trí for the red drinkers in your life, a lineup of Rosé for the last patio nights, or one of everything because deciding is hard and the weekend is short.

Rove Nation members, your club discount still applies, and this weekend it comes with an extra 5% on top. Loyalty has its perks, and right now those perks are wearing a tote bag.

Five days only. The totes go fast, the Gewürztraminer goes faster, and summer is basically out the door.

Summer has one Friday left. We're not wasting it.

Friday, September 4 | 5:30 to 8:30 PM | The Broom Closet Boys, live on the hill

Somewhere out there, a pumpkin spice latte is warming up in the bullpen. A wool sweater is stretching in the hallway. Fall is coming, and it's coming fast.

Not tonight.

Tonight the Broom Closet Boys plug in, the sun does its slow-motion thing over the vines, and you hold a glass of Rove like it's the last one of summer. Because technically, it is.

Bring your people. Bring a lawn chair. Bring the version of yourself that hasn't checked a work email since June.

The vines will still be here in October. The sunset won't sound like this.

Fewer than 30 cases of our 2024 Gewürztraminer remain, and once they're gone, this vintage is gone for good.

Delicate floral aromas, bright lime zest, a lift of green tea, and a gentle sweetness that carries candied fruit, sugared orange peel, and a warm hint of ginger. It tastes like the last wildflowers of summer.

Through September, every glass of the Wine of the Month comes with a complimentary five-spiced nut medley, finished with a warm spice blend that leans savory with just a hint of sweetness.

Visit the tasting room, order a glass, or take a bottle home before the last case leaves the estate.

Let's be honest. Some of you come for the wine. Some of you come because someone said there would be dogs.

Either way, we get it.

Happy National Dog Day to all of our favorite fur-egulars who have sniffed every table leg, politely requested charcuterie, supervised tastings, and reminded us that every patio is better with a wagging tail.

Bring your best friend, grab a glass, and don't forget to tag us in your patio pup photos. We live for them.

Here's to the dogs who make Rove feel even more like home. 🐾

P.S. We fully expect the comments to become a dog photo album. Please don't disappoint us. 👀

Come see us, raise a glass, and celebrate the incredible food and wine of Northern Michigan!
