We’re incredibly proud to share some exciting recognition from the newly released Tim Atkin South Africa Report.

Waterford Estate has been awarded outstanding scores across the board, with all wines we entered scoring above 90 points. The Jem received an outstanding score of 96 points, with the Waterford Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Kevin Arnold Shiraz and Blanc de Blancs all receiving 93 points.

A huge congratulations to Mark, Jamie and David, and to the incredible teams behind them. These scores reflect the passion, precision, and hard work that go into crafting every bottle at Waterford Estate.

We’re proud to see their dedication recognised in such a meaningful way.

Roxanne Rock is our Private Clients and Society Manager, the friendly voice many of you may know when ordering our wine. Roxanne started her career in our Tasting Room before spreading her wings to work in Asia, sharing her passion for bartending and her sunny personality.

Nicola Hobbs, our Tasting Room Manager, comes from the yachting world, selling beautiful pieces of fine art. Her eye for finer detail and people-centred approach makes her a perfect fit to manage our tasting room.

This Women’s Month, we celebrate the women who nurture our land and strengthen our farm.

Anna, our Estate Garden Manager, is the force behind the beauty our guests experience the moment they arrive. She tames and tends our gardens, keeping everything in pristine condition so visitors can fully soak up the magic of a Stellenbosch vineyard. A passionate nature and animal lover, Anna is the first to light up our staff group with a photo of a tiny tortoise crossing or thriving birdlife in the trees. This is often our daily reminder of the living ecosystem we are privileged to call home.

Johane, our Farm Assistant, may be new to the team, but she joined us right at the beginning of harvest without hesitation. Thrown straight into the deep end, she jumped headfirst into everything wine. With strength and determination, she has meshed with the team, proving that gender does not define one's ability to harvest alongside the best of them. We are excited for the positive energy, resilience and keen eye for detail she brings to our vineyard team.

This Women’s Month, we celebrate a woman who has been part of our story from the very beginning.
Bernie was here when the first ground was broken at Waterford Estate. From those early days of vision and possibility, she has helped shape what the estate is today. Her journey is woven into our vineyards, our cellar, and the experiences we create for every guest who walks through our doors.
Over the years, Bernie has become a true custodian of the brand. Her attention to detail is unmatched, and her deep understanding of who we are and what we stand for ensures that we continue to reflect the quality and care that defines Waterford Estate.
This Women’s Month, we honour her dedication, her legacy, and the quiet strength that has helped build our foundation.

A new season begins long before harvest.

This August, we joined David van Schalkwyk in the vineyard to learn more about pruning — the careful process of looking back, making decisions and preparing each vine for the season ahead.

From crop control and canopy balance to the knowledge passed down through our permanent pruning team, every cut plays a part in shaping the vintage to come.
