Our estate is currently temporarily closed for renovations, our tasting room and restaurant is located at Klein Alto, about 100m down the road at Bonte Rivier Vineyards. As echoed by the most relevant international critics, Alto wines are suitable for a decade long maturation and are a must-have for the discerning collector.

Crafted only in exceptional vintages, M.P.H.S. encapsulates the thread of quality and legacy that has run through our estate for over 100 years.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, this remarkable w**e showcases the very best of our estate. With only 2,930 bottles produced, the 2022 vintage is a rare and worthy addition to any w**e collection.

CHAMPIONS OF CABERNET

Stellenbosch has long been synonymous with exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon, and at Alto, this celebrated variety holds a particularly special place in our story.

Over the past few months, our current vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 has received several prestigious accolades, including Gold at the Michelangelo International W**e & Spirits Awards, a Stellenbosch District Terroir Award, and 90 points from Decanter.

Our young Cabernet Sauvignon has also shown great promise, receiving top recognition at the SA Young W**e Show, including the Roberto Moni and Capt. Peter Bairnsfather-Cloete awards.

These accolades are a wonderful celebration of the passion and dedication that goes into every bottle of Alto.

IN THE VINEYARD

September marks the vibrant start of a new growing season in the vineyards.

Following a dry winter, our vines began waking two to three weeks earlier than usual, with bud burst signaling the first signs of the new season as fresh shoots emerged.

With the new growth comes an important task in the vineyard; suckering. This careful process involves removing excess shoots, allowing the vine to focus its energy and nutrients on the primary fruit-bearing shoots.

Every step in our vineyards is approached with care and pride as we tend to the vines behind Alto’s renowned red w**es.
